Well, it’s hot. Crazy hot. Summer is officially here and MENERGY is ready to celebrate. We’re back at Temple Bar and proud to announce the addition of Gay Marvine as official co-resident DJ. Chuck Hampton has been a DJ in the Detroit undergound scene since 1992. Personally picked by Richie Hawtin to play at several of his parties, Chuck has appeared on bills with Derrick May, Juan Atkins, DWynn, Stacey Pullen, and many noted others. He was the resident DJ for the now legendary Friday nights in the basement of the Nectarine Ballroom (the club where Jeff Mills got his start) throughout the 90′s and early 2000′s. He’s been a guest DJ for several of the Macho City parties, resident of Fierce Hot Mess and a featured artist at the 2012 Movement festival. Known for his enthusiactic, intense and diverse sets that span genres and decades, Chuck is now an accomplished remixer and editor under the guise of “Gay Marvine” on the Detroit based labels Secret Mixes Fixes and Bath House Etiquette. Disco, House, Acid, Techno, New Wave, Industrial, Hi-NRG and even Classic Rock have all been known to make their way into Chuck’s sets. His focus is always on the dance floor.Join us in welcoming Chuck to the Menergy roster.Saturday, July 14th21+ $1 coverDJs Gay Marvine and Mike Trombley

After a LONG five month hiatus, Macho City returns to the R&R to celebrate three years of dance floor debauchery. Shine up those chaps and dust off the poppers. A brief histroy: Three years in, Macho City has gained momentum and a following due in large part to its devotion and celebration of all things Disco. Created by Mike Trombley and debuting in Philadelphia, Macho City (and Mike) soon relocated to Detroit where Scott Zacharias was added to the resident roster. The plan was to create a unique party that harked back to the heady days of legendary clubs like The Music Box and Paradise Garage while always looking toward the future. This formula proved successful and led to capacity crowds at Macho City’s headquarters, the R&R Saloon. Mike and Scott, with their arsenal of dance (un)classics, began to attract a keen mix of disco heads, art students, club kids and leather daddies alike. Macho City provides a space where clubbers from all walks of life feel welcome. The party’s focus is on the music and its unifying power. Over the past three years, Macho City has been fortunate enough to host some of the best international DJ talent. Past guests have included Beppe Loda (Italy/Typhoon), Azari & III (Toronto/Permanent Vacation), Ron Morelli (NYC/L.I.E.S.), Runaway (NYC/DFA), Legowelt (Netherlands/Clone, Creme), Nancy Fortune (France/Clone Records), Black Devil Disco Club (France/Rephlex Records), BMG (Ectomorph/IT), and Gay Marvine (Bath House Etiquette).Macho City has cemented its reputation as one of the more inimitable underground party’s in Detroit.
